Drafting with Jim #12

Hey everyone,

I hope all is well in Leeds. I am absolutely snowed under with work at the moment so i havent been keeping tabs on either of the major strategy websites, so i have been trying to keep on top of the latest developments when i have a few spare moments. Either way, i feel like i am well out of the loop on the comings and goings of magic.

It feels like ages since i have done one of these articles, but i evetually found the dark corner of my computer where the draft recorder saves its files too, meaning i have a couple of recent drafts i can now post without the hassle of desperately trying to write down cards during the draft, although im not sure it means i will do any better.

Me and Mick decided the other night to join an 8-4 queue, in the hope that one of us might get some boosters we could split, and obv being the best drafters in the world i was already planning on how to spend my 6...

i thought this deck was pretty sick tbh. The curve is pretty awful, but hopefully i can beat down sufficiently early on, and a lot of my early drops are fine to draw later on anyway. Maybe the hideous end was the pick over the 1st tern because i dont have as much removal as i would like, and i definately regret taking sky ruin drake over the paralysing grasp, which would have smoothed my curve a little as well.

I ended up losing my second round with it, and my first round was far closer than i imagined (double arrow volley trap and a day of judgement!). In the first round the game i lost, and the other which was close was due to not being able to deal with his territorial baloth (despite having sky ruin drake in hand, grrr!). Round 2 i think i played a pretty sick r/b deck, with at least 2 bladetusk boars. It was a pretty close race but he had more removal than me which made it a lot easier for him. Im pretty bummed because i thought the deck looked to be one i feel like i could 3-0 with. I think if i could make a couple of changes this certainly could have been a winning deck, but i guess thats life.

Oh, i think mick lost his first round (standard!)

Ill have the second draft of that night up in a few days (it is considerably worse considering my semi-rage due to not making prizes in this draft)

  2. I must have done about 15 zen drafts online now and dont think iv seen round 2 yet. I even lose now iv learnt to stop playing green
